The 2025 Indian Premier League is scheduled to begin on March 21. The tournament’s opening and final will be held at Eden Gardens on May 25. Additionally, it is agreed that the 2025 WPL will take place from February 7 to March 2.

In an unusual move, the IPL disclosed the windows for the following three seasons (2025–27) with the franchisees before to the November super auction. The timeframe for 2025 was set aside from March 15 to May 25. However, the IPL has chosen to maintain a two-week break between the events because the 2025 Champions Trophy final is set on March 9. with the commencement date set on March 21. Later this month, the whole IPL schedule is anticipated to be released.

As is customary, the opening and final will be held at the home field of the reigning champions, which this time will be Eden Gardens, the home field of the 2024 IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders. The first two playoff games, Qualifier 1 and Eliminator, will take place in Hyderabad, however Eden Gardens will also host Qualfier 2.

Like the previous three seasons, there will be 74 games in the 2025 season. However, when the broadcast rights for the 2023–27 cycle were sold, the IPL mentioned 84 matches in 2022; that figure is ten fewer. The IPL had specified a range of games each season in the bidding document for the next rights cycle, including 74 games in 2023 and 2024, 84 games in 2025 and 2026, and a maximum of 94 games for the deal’s last year in 2027.

Additionally, the BCCI has chosen to add two additional WPL locations. This year, the WPL will be held in Baroda and Lucknow in addition to Mumbai and Bangalore. Since the WPL schedule has not yet been released, it is unknown how many games will be played at each location.
