Former Australian captain and three-time ODI World Cup winner Ricky Ponting has quit his post as coach of the Delhi Capitals. His association with the franchise began in January 2018 when he was appointed as the head coach of the team (then Delhi Daredevils). During his tenure, the Capitals qualified for the finals in 2019, 2020 and 2021. However, 2024 saw Ponting’s managerial tour with the team finishing in sixth place.
The decision to leave will have fans wondering if it was a collaboration or an oversight. Franchise giant Sourav Ganguly has signaled the need for change, showcasing the future of the mega market and his desire to clinch the IPL title.
