David Warner has been open to making a temporary return to international cricket to play in the Champions Trophy 2025. Warner recently completed his international career after the T20 World Cup.
In a glittering international career in which he beat 49 talents, the only Award missing from Warner’s cabinet was the Award. It has won the ODI World Cup twice, the T20 World Cup in 2021 and the WTC last year. Despite making his ODI debut in January 2009, Warner was not included in the Australian squad that won the Champions Trophy in South Africa later that year.
The 37-year-old had quit ODIs last year after Australia’s World Cup win in India and retired from Test cricket during the home summer, playing his final Test against Pakistan at his home ground, SCG.
In a glittering international career that saw him smash 49 tons, the only trophy missing from Warner’s cabinet was the Champions Trophy. He has won the ODI World Cup twice, the T20 World Cup in 2021 and the WTC last year. Despite making his ODI debut in January 2009, Warner was not part of the Australian team that won the Champions Trophy in South Africa later that year.
“It’s been an unbelievable experience to play at the highest level for such a long period,” Warner wrote. “Australia was my team. The majority of my career was at the international level. It’s been an honour to be able to do this. 100+ games in all formats is my highlight.
“For all the cricket fans out there, I truly hope I have entertained you and changed cricket, especially tests, in a way where we scored a bit faster than others. I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I am also open to playing for Aus [Australia] in the Champions trophy if selected,” he further added.
